Our hometown of Canton is what we like to call “country quiet, city close.” Not only are we nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, but we are also very close to the vibrant city of Atlanta. There are tons of interesting things to see and do nearby to Soleil — in fact, most are within an hour’s drive! So whether you love the outdoors or are more of an indoor “shopaholic,” you’ll have easy access to both (and everything in between) when you live here at Soleil.
If you’re a fan of “lake life”
Sure, we have our own pretty little lake at Soleil, but if you are interested in motor boating, kayaking, swimming, and fishing, there are several bigger nearby lakes to explore. Lake Arrowhead, Lake Allatoona, Lake Blue Ridge, Lake Nottley and Carter’s Lake are three of the best and offer hours of “lake life” enjoyment. Just don’t forget to bring your sunscreen.
If you’re a fan of green spaces
We’ve already created a lovely, park-like atmosphere at Soleil but if you’re looking for green space outside our gates, there are several to choose from. Red Top Mountain State Park is on Lake Allatoona and is a fantastic place for a wooded hike and an outdoor picnic. If you have the grandkids in town, you can take them to Boiling Park or Heritage Park, where you’ll find playgrounds, athletic fields, and nature trails that happily satisfy patrons of any age.
If you’re a fan of unique dining and shopping
Of course, we have all of the typical (yet excellent) store and restaurant chains nearby. But if you’re looking for more unique dining and shopping experiences, you’ll easily find them in our quaint city centers. Both downtown Canton and downtown Woodstock offer many boutiques, antique stores, specialty shops, and eateries. In fact, Canton has its own historic theater, making it very easy to enjoy a fantastic dinner and show — all within a few minutes drive from Soleil. A little bit farther you’ll discover more cool towns like Blue Ridge (go for a train ride and the cute shops), Ellijay (apple country — and soon to be home of a brand new movie theatre), Dahlonega (wine and gold country), and so much more.
If you’re a fan of great wine
If you haven’t already heard the news, the north Georgia mountains are becoming renowned for producing excellent wines. You and your friends will have a wonderful time going on winery tours and tastings throughout Georgia Wine Country. It’s a fun and different way to explore the north Georgia mountains. And you may be surprised to discover some new favorite wines in the process.
If you’re a fan of epic hikes
Those who are serious about exploring the mountains on foot will be happy to find many fantastic hiking options. The famous Appalachian Trail starts (or ends) right here in north Georgia. The Benton MacKaye offers similar hiking with incredible vistas. There are tons of trails that traverse much of the protected Chattahoochee National Forest, leading hikers through rolling hills, by rushing rivers, and around cascading waterfalls. These are natural sights that warm both the heart and soul.
You can easily see the locations of most of these points of interest on our helpful map. Better yet, plan to come visit us and check out some of them on the way. We look forward to seeing you at Soleil and hearing about all your wonderful adventures. Who knows? Maybe Soleil will warm your heart and soul just as much as an epic hike.
